If you’ve got a website that you want to show up in Google search results, then you’re probably familiar with the term SEO.

Whether you’re outsourcing this task to an SEO agency in Melbourne, or are a optimisation whiz who knows exactly how to get your site onto Page 1 of Google, then great! You’re all set and probably don’t need to read any further.

However, if you want to try your hand at optimising your own site and have the time for it, but don’t quite know how to go about doing it, then you’ll definitely want to read on!

Thankfully, there are some WordPress plugins that make it super easy to optimise your site or blog for keywords that you want to rank for on Google search. They offer several features, including:

  • Templates for page titles and meta descriptions
  • Bulk title and description editor for individual pages and posts
  • Keyword settings for individual pages and posts
  • XML sitemaps
  • Indexing (or de-indexing) of certain pages

It’s no secret that our Melbourne SEO specialists love the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress. But there’s another major player in the SEO plugin game called the All In One SEO Pack, so we thought we’d do our due diligence and test this one out as well.

Which Is Better: Yoast or All In One SEO?

After conducting extensive research both by reading reviews on other websites and by using both plugins ourselves, our verdict is that either plugin is fine to use.

Both plugins have been downloaded over a million times each and have hundreds of rave reviews. They both do approximately the same thing and offer nearly all of the same features. So really, you can’t go wrong.

However, it’s not necessary to use both plugins, nor to pay to upgrade to the full version. At the moment (i.e. as of June 2017), the free versions of both plugins have everything you need to make some serious SEO headway.

That said, Yoast SEO is still our preferred SEO plugin for WordPress for two major reasons:

  1. Yoast SEO’s interface is nicer and easier to use than All In One SEO’s. We like the way various items are sorted into tabs in Yoast as opposed to how everything is crammed onto one page in the other plugin.
  2. Yoast SEO allows you to focus on a specific keyword for each page or blog post you create, analyses the page content, and offers tips on what to do to better optimise it for that keyword. All In One SEO does not have this functionality.

Yoast SEO’s content analysis is what really sells it for us.
